On the surface, you might think that the mid-mounted engine would make converting the Ford GT easier than a traditional front-engined vehicle. This is not the case, though, as the design and engineering of the Ford GT is far closer to a race car than a road car. Every part has been designed specifically for its purpose, position and space available, as opposed to a road car which has comparatively much more free space and less engineering complexity.
It took over six months of solid work to get the first Ford GT on the road in RHD configuration. Over 300 individual parts had to be manufactured or re-engineered for the Ford GT conversion, which is close to double the number usually required. Basically the whole layout of the car has had to be mirrored left to right. Everything fits perfectly into its place, so there is no room to move in engineering terms, meaning everything has to be swapped.
The original vehicle is beautifully engineered and finished, so we have worked tirelessly to ensure that our work matches the original. We have carefully and meticulously made our way through the conversion process – problem-solving, designing and manufacturing the best solutions along the way. If someone didn't know it wasn't RHD from the factory, they would be hard pressed to pick it!
After inspecting cars in the US we decided that, with our experience and the skills of our staff, it could be done. We were under no llusions that it would be the biggest project we have tackled in more than 20 years of converting cars, but we were certain the end result would be worth the effort.
The Ford GT resembles the original race car in styling, while demonstrating Ford's cutting-edge design and engineering. Their catchcry for the launch of the new GT in 2005 was 'The Pace Car for an entire Company'. The Ford GT has now ended its production run, making it one of the most sought after vehicles in the world.

With styling resembling the 1960's race car, everything about the new GT is purposeful. With the supercharged 5.4L V8 producing over 410kw of power and almost 680nm of torque, the rest of this supercar has been designed and built to be Ford's ultimate performance car.
Hand-built from the ground up, the performance and handling is truly in supercar territory. The engine's power is transmitted through a manual 6-speed transaxle behind the mid-mounted V8, while the fully-independent race-bred suspension features unequal length aluminium control arms, coil springs and forged aluminium shocks.
Stopping such a weapon comes under the control of Brembo vented disc brakes with 4-piston calipers and ABS. Wheels are 18" (front) and 19" (rear) aluminium, fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 235/45ZR18 (front) and 315/40ZR19 (rear) tyres.
The gorgeous exterior features huge air intake and extraction vents in the bonnet, sides and rear decklid. Aerodynamics include front spoiler/splitter, side splitters, mini underbody diffusers, rear diffusers, full underbody cladding and a rear decklid spoiler. Bodyside vinyl 'Ford GT' stripes are standard (delete option available), while the painted racing stripes over the bonnet, roof and rear hatch are optional. An awesomelimited edition 'Heritage Livery Package' is also availabel for the 2006 model, reminiscent of the blue and orange race cars of the late 60's.
The carbon-fibre-structure Sparco leather sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and polished aluminium gearknob make the interior as inviting as the exterior. The black leather continues over the instrument panel and throughout the rest of the interior. The analog tachometer, speedometer, trip meter, volt meter, vacuum boost, oil pressure, engine temperature and fuel gauges keep the driver informed of what is going on. All the modern supercar safety features are there too, including ABS and driver and passenger airbags.
